When a portal requires two-factor authentication (2FA), GetMyInvoices tries to confirm it automatically (Auto2FA). Sometimes this does not work. Depending on the cause, there are different ways to fix it.
You still have to confirm 2FA manually even though Auto2FA is activated
This is usually due to the method set up in the portal. Confirmations by SMS or email link cannot be automated - they still have to be confirmed manually.
To automate the retrieval, you need an authenticator app as the 2FA method:
- First, remove the existing two-factor authentication directly in the portal.
- Then set up the new method via an authenticator app in parallel, both in the portal and in GetMyInvoices.
For a step-by-step guide, see Integrate Automated 2FA Retrieval .
The portal does not offer an Auto2FA method at all
For security reasons, some portals do not allow automated 2FA - confirmation then has to be done manually on every retrieval. This is a requirement set by the respective portal provider, which we have no influence over.
Good to know: In the settings under Companies & Portals (gear icon, top right), you can specify the times at which it suits you best to confirm 2FA requests manually. This lets you make the retrieval run as smoothly as possible.
If your portal has since started offering a 2FA method via an authenticator app, feel free to contact us - we will then check whether we can set up Auto2FA for it.
You have already activated the authenticator app directly in the portal
If 2FA via an authenticator app was already set up in the portal before you connected it to GetMyInvoices, it first needs to be deactivated there:
- Deactivate the two-factor authentication directly in the portal.
- Only then delete the corresponding entry from your authenticator app.
- Then set up 2FA again following our guide.
